Celebrating Marit Kapla’s nomination for the EU Prize for Literature (EUPL) with music and reading
Love has many faces. The intoxication of falling in love, the care and consideration of everyday life and perhaps a life of joint endeavour until the golden wedding and beyond. But also, the sorrow of being left behind, the heaven and hell of a destructive passion and the loss when a loved one dies.
In author and journalist Marit Kapla's book Kärlek på svenska, a number of people of different ages and backgrounds talk openly about love. They live all over Sweden, from Ystad in the south to Karesuando in the north. The interviews were conducted by Staffan Julén for his documentary film Love in Swedish.
Kapla's first book, Osebol, was awarded the August Prize in 2019. Kärlek på svenska is written in the same documentary poetic style and was nominated this year for the European Union Prize for Literature (EUPL).
In honour of the nomination, Gamla stans bokhandel welcomes Marit Kapla who will read from the book, accompanied by Anders Lagerqvist on violin.
